Earthquake Science Intro:

Earth's crust releases energy in the form of seismic waves. Earthquake scientists use various methods and instruments to measure, record, analyze, and predict earthquakes and their effects on people and the environment. Some of the topics that earthquake science covers are: - The types and causes of earthquakes, such as tectonic, volcanic, or induced by human activities - The structure and composition of the Earth's interior, such as the crust, mantle, core, and plate boundaries - The characteristics and propagation of seismic waves, such as P-waves, S-waves, surface waves, and body waves - The measurement and estimation of earthquake magnitude, intensity, location, depth, and duration - The assessment and mitigation of earthquake hazards, such as ground shaking, liquefaction, landslides, tsunamis, and fault rupture - The historical and statistical analysis of earthquake occurrence, frequency, distribution, and patterns - The development and testing of earthquake forecasting and early warning systems are in the works at this time in Parkfield California.

I'd like to thank Jon Samuel for taking the time to set up CaSeismograph. And for the staff that work behind the scenes to keep the operation going.

A special thanks to Terry, Tinkers, Cherrie, Dave, Connie, Lupe, Shelby, GG, and Charles, others who put time in to help.
